Two Cowgirls Drafted by Women's Pro Softball League

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Oklahoma State's Jaime Foutch and Michelle Singer were two of 60 collegiate seniors drafted in the Women's Pro Softball League, it was announced today. Foutch was drafted in the second round with the eighth selection overall by the Tampa Bay Firestix. Singer was the taken in the seventh round with
Foutch, a native of Edmond, Okla., is a three-time All-American at Oklahoma State. Singer, a native of Stockton, Calif., transferred to OSU last season and was a second-team All-Big 12 and All-Midwest Region selection.
The duo became the fourth and fifth Oklahoma State Cowgirls to be drafted by the league, in its third year of operation. Julie Soderlund was drafted by the Durham Dragons in the league's inaugural season in 1996, while Kristi Blle (Tampa Bay Firestix) and Leanne Tyler (Carolina Diamonds) were both selected in the second round of the 1997 draft.
The WPSL, America's major professional fastpitch softball league for women, will begin its third season of play in May of 1999. The league is made up of six teams located in the Eastern United States and features US national softball team members, collegiate All-Americans and all-conference selections.
