STILLWATER, Okla. - Despite a disappointing season, the Oklahoma State Cowgirl softball team is still receiving honors, even after their playing days are over. Jaime Foutch, Michelle Singer and Jennifer Olival have all been selected first-team All-Midwest Region in a vote by the regional coaches. All three will also be nominated for All-America honors.
A total of 24 student-athletes from 10 schools have been named to the team. The region consists of 29 schools, comprised of every school in the Big 12 and Missouri Valley Conferences, as well as selected schools in Conference USA and the Mid-Continent, Southland and Southwestern Athletic Conferences. OSU tied Texas and Oklahoma for the most players named to the first team with three.
Foutch, earning her fourth All-Region honor, was named as the top utility player in the region. This season, she batted .413, and broke virtually every school offensive record in her four-year career. Singer was named the best designated player in the region, after earning second-team honors last season at that position. Olival, in her second season with Oklahoma State, was named first-team outfielder with a .398 batting average this year.
Oklahoma State has had 37 players named All-Region since the honor was first recognized in 1988, including 32 first-team members. This is the sixth time that OSU has had at least three first-team members nameds.
