Softball Sweeps McNeese State

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's 11th-ranked Cowgirl softball team took two games from the McNeese State Cowgirls and upped its season record to 10-1 here Monday afternoon at Cowgirl Field.
The OSU pitching duo of Amy Lopez and Leanne Tyler were unstoppable, allowing just one earned run in a combined 12 innings pitched. Lopez struck out six batters while walking none in the first game, and Tyler threw a three-hitter while striking out four and walking just one.
In the first game, the top three batters in the Cowgirl lineup each had two hits, including doubles by Kristi Boelle and Jaime Foutch. Michelle Ryan also had two hits, while Liz Silva had a two-run double in the fifth inning. Lopez picked up her second win of the year at 2-1.
In game two, Boelle hit her second home run of the season, a line drive to right centerfield, and went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Melissa Turley and Katie Wise each added two hits and Leanne Tyler picked up her second win of the season at 2-0.
Oklahoma State (10-1) will travel to Columbus, Ga., this weekend to compete in the NFCA Leadoff Classic. The first scheduled opponent for the Cowgirls will be the sixth-ranked Lady Gamecocks of South Carolina, on Friday at 1 p.m. CST.
