COWGIRLS TRAVEL TO NORMAN Oklahoma State (16-20 overall, 2-6 Big 12) travels to Norman, Okla., this Wednesday to face the ninth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (36-11, 9-2) in bedlam action. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. OSU is coming off a 1-3 record last weekend during the Texas trip, while OU finished 3-1. The Cowgirls lost both games to Texas, and split with Texas A&M. The Sooners, meanwhile, swept A&M and split with the Longhorns. Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with a 67-39 record.
COMING UP Oklahoma State will play its last eight games at home, beginning this Friday night with a single game vs. the Utah Utes of the Western Athletic Conference. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, OSU will host the Baylor Bears in doubleheader action, followed on Sunday by a doubleheader with Texas Tech. Games on both days start at noon. Next Wednesday, OSU will host Wichita State of the Missouri Valley Conference at 6:30 p.m., followed by a game vs. Hawaii on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Cowgirls will conclude the regular season on Friday, April 30, when OSU hosts these same Sooners in a 6:30 p.m. game.
COWGIRL NOTE-ABLE Oklahoma States catchers have thrown out 14-of-43 base runners on stolen-base attempts, or 32.6 percent. Conversely, OSU base runners have been successful on 32-of-43 attempts, or 74.4 percent. Senior Michelle Singer leads the pack, throwing out 7-of-22 base stealers.
Cowgirl junior Jennifer Olival is batting .429 since conference play started, with nine hits in 21 at-bats.
Cowgirl freshman Jessica Jenkins has struck out 51 batters in 45.1 innings, an average of 7.9 strikeouts per seven innings.
Oklahoma State has turned 13 double plays this season, compared to just six by the opponents.
Two Cowgirls are batting at least .400 with runners in scoring position, led by Kristine Garcias .435 average.
Foutch is batting a whopping .464 with runners on, but just .321 when the bases are empty.
Shelly Graham, OSUs leadoff hitter in 23-of-36 games, is batting .370 when leading off an inning.
As a team, Oklahoma State is 30-for-60 (.500) when batting with a runner on third base and less than two outs.
OSU is batting a dismal .179 when the bases are loaded, while the opposition is batting .238 in the same situation.
Opponent leadoff hitters are batting .420 against the Cowgirl pitchers, but just .217 with runners on base.
The Cowgirls have had 46 two-out RBIs, led by freshman Casey ONeill and Foutch, who each have six. Shelly Graham and Melissa Turley each have five, while Kristine Garcia, Liz Silva and Amanda Hayes have four each.
Oklahoma State has scored more runs in the third inning (25) than any other inning, but have not scored more than 17 in the other six. Meanwhile, the opponents have scored at least 20 runs in the first, third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings.
Seniors Foutch, Katie Wise and Melissa Turley rank 2-3-5 in career walks at Oklahoma State, respectively. Foutch, with 50, needs three more to surpass Stephenie Littles 52 career passes, and Wise is tied with Dena Carter for third with 47. Turley currently has 44 walks.
FOUTCH OWNING RECORD BOOKS Cowgirl senior Jaime Foutch owns all but a few of the all-time OSU offensive records. She owns or is tied for four single-game records, six single-season records, and eight career records. With her next game, she will tie Tonia Brown for most games played in a career, and with one more base on balls, she will tie Stephenie little for that career mark. By the time she leaves OSU, she will hold at least 20 offensive records.

TWO COWGIRLS HONORED Oklahoma States Melissa Turley and Kristine Garcia were both honored by the Big 12 Conference with the NationsBank Community Champion Award this season. Turley was featured on the Big 12 Showcase three weeks ago, while Garcia will be honored on the same program in the future. Both were nominated by Oklahoma States Athletic Department for their dedication to the Stillwater community and to several charitable organizations. OSUs only other honoree was Cowboy tailback Jamaal Fobbs, who received the accolade during the fall semester.
SERIES VS. OU Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Oklahoma by a 67-40 mark. However, the Sooners have won the last three games, and eight of the last 11. The series is tied at 17-17 in games played in Norman, although the Cowgirls have won two of the last three on the road. Oklahoma State is 30-13 vs. Oklahoma in Stillwater, and 20-10 vs. the Sooners on neutral sites. The series dates back to 1975, the first year for both programs. Sandy Fischer is 61-34 vs. Oklahoma, while Patti Gasso is 12-8 vs. Oklahoma State. There have been 53 shutouts in the series, with OSU pitchers throwing 35 of them.
