COWGIRLS FACE OKLAHOMA FOR 105th TIME
Oklahoma State's 10th-ranked softball team will travel to Norman, Okla., Wednesday afternoon for the second game of the Bedlam series at 6:30 p.m. The Cowgirls won the first game 2-1 three weeks ago in Stillwater. Since that date, the Sooners have gone 12-2 while OSU has had a .500 record at 7-7. Oklahoma is coming off a split with both the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies, while OSU split with A&M and was swept by the Longhorns. This will be the 105th meeting between these two schools on the softball field, with Oklahoma State owning a 67-37 record vs. the Sooners. OSU also leads the series in Norman 17-16 dating back to the spring of 1978, when results were kept in the OSU archives. OU won the first game of the year when the two teams met in the finals of the UTA/Pepsi-Cola Intercollegiate Tournament,4-3, and OSU won the first Bedlam game this season, 2-1.

LAST TIME
Oklahoma State committed eight errors in two games as the eighth-ranked Texas Longhorns swept the Cowgirls last Sunday at Cowgirl Field in Stillwater. Texas run-ruled the Cowgirls in the first game 10-0 thanks to an eight-run fourth on eight hits and two OSU errors. Second baseman Nikki Cockrell blasted the Cowgirl pitching staff, hitting a solo home run and a double with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Longhorn ace Christa Williams, who leads the nation in strikeouts per game with an 11.65 average, stuck out only three OSU batters, but limited the Cowgirls to just two hits in five innings. The Cowgirls got nothing going on the day until the fourth inning of the second game when, trailling 7-0, Jennifer Olival started off the inning with a bunt single. Junior Jaime Foutch followed that with a line drive down the left field line that moved Olival to third. After a goundout and a walk issued to Michelle Singer to load the bases, Olival scored on a passed ball. Another base on balls before the second out to Liz Silva loaded the bases again, and Katie Wise walked to score the second run. OSU added two more runs in the fifth on base hits by Kristi Boelle and Jaime Foutch, and two Longhorn errors. They would be the last runs of the afternoon as Texas defeated OSU, 7-4.
