FULLERTON, CA - Junior Jodi Chmielewski hit her first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the third inning, to lift the No. 18 ranked Oregon State softball team (16-5) to a 3-1 victory over No. 6 Oklahoma (26-6) at the Kia Klassic Friday.
Sophomore Parisa Plant scored for the Beavers in the first inning, and then Chmielewski's two-run shot to right center put the Beavers on top, 3-0, after three innings. Oklahoma scored its only run in the fourth.
Sophomore Tarrah Beytser picked up her twelfth win of the season after giving up six hits to go along with three strikeouts.
Senior Denise Brown, junior Heather Chinn and Chmielewski each had two hits en route to the victory.
"Jodi came up big in the clutch once again with the game-winning home run," said assistant coach Jenny Condon. "Tarrah pitched great and really shut down their big hitters in the middle of their lineup."
OSU resumes play in the Kia Klassic with a 5:00 contest with No. 25 Florida tonight.
