STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State University and Stillwater have been selected as one of eight sites to host a regional in the 1998 NCAA Softball Championships Friday through Sunday, May 15-17.
The 13th-ranked Cowgirls will compete as the No. 2 seed. Other teams competing in Stillwater will be top-seeded Stanford, third seed Florida State and fourth seed Southwest Missouri State.
It will be the seventh regional hosted by Oklahoma State since 1982, when the NCAA Championships began. The last time OSU hosted with in 1995; the Cowgirls have made Women's College World Series appearances in 1982, 1989, 1990, 1993 and 1994.
Here is the schedule for this weekend's games (all times are CDT):
Friday, May 15
Game 1: No. 2 Oklahoma State (37-17) vs. No. 3 Florida State (50-18), 4:30 p.m.
Game 2: No. 1 Stanford (35-16) vs. No. 4 Southwest Missouri State (30-20), 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 16
Game 3: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 12 p.m.
Game 4: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 2:30 p.m.
Game 5: Game 4 winner vs. Game 3 loser, 7 p.m.
Sunday, May 17
Game 6: Game 3 winner vs. Game 5 winner, 1 p.m.
Game 7 (if necessary): Game 6 winner vs. Game 3 winner, 3:30 p.m. or 35 minutes following first game
