OSU Claims Two Individual Equestrian Titles

CAZENOVIA, New York - Oklahoma State crowned two individual national champions and the Cowgirls finished tied for third in team competition at the National Equestrian Championships.
The competition began Friday and was completed Sunday afternoon. OSU's two individual national champions are Michal Jones in Intermediate Team and Chelsea Makloski in Intermediate Western Horsemanship.
As a team, the Cowgirls finished tied for third with State University of New York. Ohio State won the team title with Berry College finishing second.
Other individual finishes for OSU included Trista Armstrong who finished third in Open Western Horsemanship and fourth in Open Reining and Erica Wint who finished fourth in Beginning Team.
Lara Freesemann also performed well, capturing sixth in Reining.
The national championship event marked the conclusion of Oklahoma State's first season of competition in women's equestrian. The Cowgirls, coached by Larry Sanchez, had four zone champions in addition to their national champions.
At the zone competition two weeks ago, the Cowgirls also had two reserve champions and two third-place finishes
