Cowgirls Sweep Preseason Softball Doubleheader

STILLWATER, Okla.- Oklahoma State's fastpitch softball team won a pair of scrimmages 2-0, 4-2, over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College Saturday afternoon at Cowgirl Field in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cowgirls won the first game 2-0 behind the one-hit pitching of Sheryl Anderson. Anderson also had the Cowgirls' lone RBI. She was one of seven Cowgirl batters with one hit. On the mound she struck out two and walked three while allowing no runs in five innings of work.
In the second game, the Lady Norse jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning behind a two-RBI single by third baseman Kim Hartling.
However, the Cowgirls came back with a four-run outburst in the bottom of the second inning. Amanda Haynes had the big hit for the Cowgirls, a two-run double. In all the Cowgirls had seven hits in the inning.
Newcomer Sarah Knife Chief received the win in her Cowgirl debut. She struck out five over five innings while giving up seven hits and two runs. She did not allow a run after the first inning.
