Cowgirl Duo Advance To Regional Quarterfinals

SALT LAKE CITY - Maria Galoustova and Dominika Olszewska advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rolex Regional on Friday.
Galoustova defeated Kansas State's Alen Kecminkova in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6 (7-0), to a move on to the round of eight. The win was her seventh straight and improved her overall record to 8-4 for the fall season.
Olszewska, who entered the as the event's 14th seed, handled Elizo veta Khoudoiarova of Brigham Young in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. She too will face a conference foe in the next round when she takes on Kansas' Monika Sekulov. The win upped her mark for the fall to 11-2.
Galoustova will face the tournaments third seed, Sandra Noetzel of Nebraska, in the next round. Olszewska's next opponent, Sekulov, is coming off of two straight upsets of seeded players to advance to the fourth round.
The Cowgirls also pushed both of their doubles squads through to the round of 16.
Ashleigh Dolman and Galoustova are the tournament's fifth seed and defeated Eva Novotna and Petra Sedimaverova of Kansas State 8-1 to move on. In the next round, they will square off with the tournaments ninth seed, Tiffany Chang and Cheryl Mallaiah of Kansas.
The eleventh seeded tandem of Marketa Chmelova and Linda Faltynkova defeated Iowa State's Noortjic Cornillson and Karin Westberg to move into the third round. They will face the field's sixth seed, New Mexico's Natalie Alekhova and Ana Friganovic.
