Expectations and hopes are high as the Oklahoma State Cowboys prepare to face the Oklahoma Sooners for Bedlam wrestling this Tuesday, Nov. 30.
"I'm looking to all 10 of our wrestlers to give us everything they've got," said OSU Wrestling Coach John Smith. "Anything less could be a disappointment."
The Cowboys, who are seen by many as the underdog, have won the last seven Bedlam wrestling duals.
"We're not used to being in the role that we are presently in," said Coach Smith. "It's been a long time since we've been the underdog in this situation."
After the loss of four key wrestlers to graduation, the Cowboys are now left with a young and inexperienced team.
However, this Cowboy wrestling team is continuing to show promise as the season goes on.
"We have been pleasantly surprised with this particular team and with their development so far," Coach Smith said.
Coach Smith said that his expectations for the starting wrestlers are high and that he plans to go with what he feels is his best team.
Senior Jeff Ragan will be wrestling at the 125 pound weight class, Charles Walker will be wrestling at 133, Jamil Kelly at 141, Reggie Wright at 149, Shane Roller at 157, Ty Wilcox at 165, Tony Ganson at 174, Pat Popolizio at 184, Mark Munoz at 197, and Dave Anderton at the heavyweight class
Heading into Tuesday night's Bedlam dual the Cowboys will try to extend the nation's longest winning dual streak. OSU has currently won their last 69 duals.
"We are not prepared to have this streak end on Tuesday," Coach Smith said. "We know that it's going to end sometime, but we don't want to see it happen yet."
The dual is scheduled to begin at 7p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena on the Oklahoma State University Campus.
