Cowgirls Fall Short In Second Half

STILLWATER, Okla. - Colorado scored three goals in the second half and came from behind to defeat Oklahoma State 3-1 in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at the OSU Soccer Complex.
The loss snapped the Cowgirls two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 3-9 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12. The Buffaloes improved to 9-4 and 2-2 in Big 12 play.
Oklahoma State opened the scoring 46 seconds into the game when Missy Moss headed in a corner kick from Andi Lute to give the Cowgirls an early 1-0 lead. The Cowgirls held the lead until halftime, outshooting the Buffaloes 8-3 in the first period.
Colorado evened the score at 1-1 at the 50:37 mark when Sarah Nowfel scored on a penalty kick caused by a handball in the box by OSU.
Meghan Swanzy put the Buffaloes ahead at the 67:30 mark when she scored off a deflected shot by midfielder Tiffany Booth. Melissa Cartmell added a goal with just over 15 minutes to play to give Colorado a 3-1 lead.
The Cowgirls will be on the road next weekend when they take on Kansas and Missouri in Big 12 play. OSU and KU will play on Friday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. in Lawrence. The Cowgirls will then take on the Tigers on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m., closing out the road portion of their conference schedule.
