Oklahoma State University fans have the opportunity to bring a smile to a child's face during the holidays at OSU's next home football game.
Toys to the Game, OSU's second annual toy drive, will be held Nov. 6 prior to the OSU-Texas football game.
Toys to the Game is a non-profit event that encourages the Stillwater community, alumni and students to bring a new or used toy to an OSU football game.
Fans can bring a new or used toy to the game and join event organizers at the Toy Tailgate from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the OSU Cowboy Corral on the South Side of Lewis Field.
Participants who bring a toy to the Toy Tailgate can enjoy free food, drinks, music and fun. Activities for children will also be provided.
"The Toy Tailgate is a way to reward those who participate in the Toys to the Game event," said Toys to the Game Distribution Director Jaime Jackson.
The first Toys to the Game event was held last year during the OSU-Baylor football game. The event was a huge success as over 3,000 toys were collected in less than month.
These toys were donated to several different charities, including Action Inc., the Department of Human Services, the Stillwater Domestic Violence Center, Payne County Youth Shelter, and the Stillwater Christmas Store.
Due to this year's earlier start date, organizers have set a goal to collect 10,000 toys.
"We hope that because people already know what Toys to the Game is and because we are starting earlier that we will be able to collect more toys than last year," Jackson said.
The Toy Tailgate as well as the Toys to the Game event are sponsored by the Student Government Association.
"Toys to the Game was established because SGA executives wanted a way to give back to children in the community," said SGA Vice President Mark Oppel.
All toys received will be once again donated to local Payne County charity organizations.
