CANYON, Texas - Oklahoma State's equestrian team opened its inaugural season with a win at the University of Texas show hosted by West Texas A&M on Saturday.
The show consisted of two hunt seat shows and points from both shows were added together to determine overall placings. The Cowgirls' team score of 52 points was good enough for a first place overall finish.
"I am very pleased with the girls' performance," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "I'm impressed with where we are this soon in the season. We're ahead of schedule. We still have some kinds to iron out, but the girls represented OSU very well."
Sophomore Audrey Buck won overall high-point honors for the show, as well as winning her division. Freshmen Jackie Skibicki, Kim Cloud and Amber Higgins also received first place in their divisions. Trista Armstrong and Susie Reed also received division top honors.
The Cowgirls will return to action Oct. 22-24 as they travel to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Western Show.
