INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Oklahoma State's softball team won its final game of the fall season late Friday night as the Cowgirls won a 3-0 contest vs. the UMKC Kangaroos here in pool play of the UMKC Fall Classic. Unfortunately, the rest of the tournament was rained out.
Freshman pitcher Lauren Bay was unstoppable, giving up just two hits while striking out 12 batters and walking none. Meanwhile, the Cowgirl offense had enough potency to record three runs, one in the bottom of the first and two in the third.
With one out of the first inning, sophomore Jenny Kipp singled and scored on an RBI double by Paula Garman. The duo also scored both runs in the third with two outs, connecting on back-to-back hits and scoring on a double by senior Liz Silva.
OSU finished 5-3 during the fall season, and will open the 2000 season on Saturday, Feb. 5, in a tripleheader scrimmage with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.
