Cowgirls Open Season At UNLV Fall Invitational

LAS VEGAS - The Oklahoma State women's tennis team split six individual matches in the first round of the UNLV Women's Tennis Fall Invitational on Friday.
In Flight "1" action, sophomore, Dominika Olszewska, dropped a three-set match to Minnesota's Nora Sausk. OSU's Maria Galoustova defeated Vickie Gunnerson of Northern Arizona in straight sets.
The Cowgirls split both matches in Flight "2" as well. Senior Marketa Chmelova posted a 6-1, 6-2 decision to move on to the second round. In the bottom half of the bracket, Ashleigh Dolman dropped a straight set decision to Tammy Wang of Minnesota.
In Flight "3", Cameron Stoudt won in straight sets while Erin Pauchnik dropped her match with Amy Thomas of Minnesota. Stoudt moved on to play Minnesota's Michaela Havelkova in the second round on Saturday.
In doubles competition, Galoustova and Dolman defeated the UNLV tandem of Katereyna Malec and Marianne Bakken, 8-5. The OSU duos of Chmelova/Olszewaska and Pauchnik/ Stoudt knocked off Minnesota's squads in the second and third flights.
Oklahoma State is joined in the tournament field by Minnesota, Northern Arizona and the host school, Nevada-Las Vegas. The individual-play tournament concludes on Sunday.
