The Student-Athlete Board provided fun and entertainment after the football game last Sunday when they sponsored a car wash to raise money for the Special Olympics.
More than 100 student-athletes raised over $700 during the car wash that was held in Albertson's grocery store parking lot.
The Student-Athlete Board is made up of two representatives from each of the 18 sports.
The council is a way for student-athletes to come together to discuss concerns about the university and the athletics department.
"The student-athletes wanted to do something to raise money for the Big 12 charity (Special Olympics), and we've been successful with car washes in the past, so we thought this would be a good fundraiser," said Agatha Anderson, Student-Athlete Board Advisor.
Athletic trainers and representatives from most sports participated in the car wash.
"The Advisory Council representatives were responsible for getting the information about the car wash back to their teammates," Anderson said. "They encouraged others from their sport to come out and participate."
The car wash was held from 1-5 p.m. and only donations were accepted.
"I think that the athletes who participated really enjoyed themselves," Anderson said. "Even though they were signed up in 45-minute blocks, several of them stayed for nearly two hours."
