Cowgirls Come Back To Defeat LSU, 3-1

STILLWATER, Okla. - Andrea Larsen scored two goals, the second coming at the 72:51 mark, to spring Oklahoma State to a 3-1 win over LSU in women's soccer action Friday evening at the OSU Soccer Complex.
LSU midfielder Amanda Huntzinger scored at the 34:10 mark in the first half to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead, which they held into halftime.
Larsen scored her first goal off a Julie Harris assist at the 58:01 mark to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was her fourth of the season and third in the last two games.
"I think our confidence is climbing with two wins in a row," Larsen said. "I think this win helps us overall and we will be ready for Big 12 play against Colorado on Sunday," added the junior forward.
OSU added another goal with six minutes remaining when Andi Lute scored her third goal of the year off an assist by Mercy Morrical, helping ensure the Cowgirl victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Katharine Doud played the entire game for OSU in net and made three saves to improve to 3-3 on the year.
Head coach Karen Hancock was pleased with the win but felt the Cowgirls could of done a better job of converting on their 22-8 shot advantage.
"I thought we came out tonight and did a nice job of attacking," said Hancock. "I think we will have to shore it up defensively and do a better job with our scoring chances in order to win on Sunday," added the fourth-year head coach.
OSU improves to 3-8 with the win while LSU fell to 4-8. The Cowgirls will be back in action this Sunday when they host Big 12 foe Colorado at 1 p.m. at the OSU Soccer Complex. The first 100 fans in attendance will get an OSU mini-soccer ball.
