Former Purdue and Butler standout Eric Hunter Jr. joins the Oklahoma State men’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 season.
The move reunites Hunter with head coach Steve Lutz, who served as a Boilermaker assistant during Hunter’s first three seasons as a player in West Lafayette.
At OSU, Hunter will assist Lutz and staff with a variety of day-to-day responsibilities related to operations, scouting and player development.
Hunter played four seasons at Purdue (2018-22), where he was a three-year starter and Big Ten All-Defensive Team selection. He helped the Boilermakers to a share of the 2019 Big Ten regular season title and three NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by runs to the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight.
After graduating with a degree in selling and sales management, the Indianapolis native returned to his hometown to play his final collegiate season at Butler University. He started all 31 games for the Bulldogs in 2022-23 and led the team with 42 steals.
Following college, Hunter played professionally for two seasons with stops in Estonia and Croatia.
A left-handed guard, Hunter finished his prep career at Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School as the No. 7 scorer in Indiana high school history with 2,584 career points. He averaged 29.0 points per game as a senior after leading the Tigers to their first ever state championship as a junior.
