2016: An honorable mention All-Big 12 performer … made 24 appearances, 12 of those as a starter ... became the 14th pitcher in OSU history to record 100 strikeouts in a season ... was the opening day starter for the Cowboys vs. UT Arlington; next six appearances came in relief before he re-joined the weekend starting rotation March 14 against Abilene Christian ... earned first win of season at Missouri State (3/8) ... racked up 13 strikeouts in six innings vs. Michigan (3/19), the most strikeouts by an OSU pitcher since 2012 ... tossed career-high eight innings and struck out 12 in win at Baylor (4/16) ... was twice named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, on March 21 and April 18 ... took over the Cowboys’ closer role in the NCAA Tournament and thrived, picking up four saves in six appearances and recording a 0.68 ERA ... allowed just one earned run in 14.0 innings and struck out 15 ... four saves tied for the most of any pitcher in the NCAA tourney ... notched a save in NCAA Clemson Regional championship against the host Tigers (6/5) with three scoreless innings in which he struck out four ... picked up saves in both games of the Columbia Super Regional at South Carolina (6/11-6/12) ... earned another save in OSU’s second game of College World Series vs. Arizona (6/20) as he worked a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning in a 1-0 game ... did not allow an earned run in five innings of relief in OSU’s final CWS game vs. Arizona (6/25) while striking out five ... drafted in the 12th round of the MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
2015: An honorable mention All-Big 12 performer … 31 appearances, all in relief, was third most by an OSU pitcher in a season … racked up 53 strikeouts in 58.2 innings … earned first two saves of career, both coming in Big 12 play — vs. Texas (4/4) and Kansas (4/10) … struck out a career-high six in season opener at Arizona State (2/13) … named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team … worked eight scoreless innings at the tourney with seven strikeouts … tossed five perfect innings against West Virginia (5/20) to earn win in Big 12 tourney opener … did not allow a batted ball to leave the infield against the Mountaineers … was winning pitcher in NCAA Stillwater Regional vs. St. John’s (5/29), allowing just one unearned run in 2.1 innings and striking out three.
2014: Pitched in 18 games, starting one of those ... first-career appearance came in season opener vs. Incarnate Word (2/14) ... racked up a career-high six strikeouts in 3.1 innings against Texas-Pan American (3/15) ... tied that six-strikeout effort vs. Oral Roberts (5/13) in five innings of work ... only start of season came against Texas in Big 12 Championship elimination game (5/24) ... did not allow an earned run in two innings vs. Longhorns and OSU eventually won the game to earn a berth in the tourney title game ... pitched career-high 5.1 innings vs. Cal State Fullerton in NCAA Stillwater Regional final (6/1) ... did not allow an earned run against the Titans and Cowboys won the game to propel them to Super Regional.
HIGH SCHOOL: Named to the 2013 All-West Region first team by Perfect Game … was 11-2 with a 1.05 ERA and 87 strikeouts as a senior … part of championship, runner-up and state semifinal teams at BAHS … as a junior went 10-2 on the mound with 88 strikeouts … also hit .317 with 22 RBIs … led team to Class 6A state runner-up finish … 2012 Perfect Game Underclassmen All-American second team … 2012 Louisville Slugger All-American honorable mention … helped lead Tigers to state championship as a sophomore … also recruited by LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Arizona, Stanford, Alabama, Florida, Miami and Wichita State, among others.
PERSONAL: Majoring in economics and history … born June 24, 1994 … son of Jay and Jennifer Cobb … has two younger siblings, Wyatt and Addison … both parents attended OSU … grandfather, Frank Linzy, played 10 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Giants, Cardinals, Phillies and Brewers … favorite athlete is Paul George … favorite pro team is the Chicago Cubs ... chose OSU because I’ve been a Cowboy since I was little and wanted to play for the best coaches in the country ... favorite baseball moment is winning game two in Omaha vs. Arizona.
