Preston Stout Named Ben Hogan Award Finalist

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma State's Preston Stout was named one of three finalists for the Ben Hogan Award it was announced by Fort Worth Colonial Charities, the Friends of Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Joining Stout as finalists are Auburn's Jackson Koivun and Virginia's Ben James.
The Ben Hogan Award annually honors the top men's NCAA Division I, II, II NAIA or NJCAA college golfer based on all collegiate, amateur and professional events over the previous 12 months.
The 11th Cowboy since 2002 to be named a finalist for the award, Stout is looking to become the fifth during that time to win the award. He would join Hunter Mahan (2003), Rickie Fowler (2008), Peter Uihlein (2011) and Viktor Hovland (2019).
A native of Richardson, Texas, Stout is currently ranked second in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and the Clippd Scoreboard College Golf Ranking. Stout has won four times during his junior campaign with wins at the Cabo Collegiate, Maridoe Collegiate, Mountaineer Invitational and most recently the Big 12 Championship.
The 2026 Big 12 Player of the Year, Stout became the first-ever player to win three consecutive Big 12 crowns and is the first Cowboy to capture three consecutive league titles since Lindy Miller did so in 1976, 1877 and 1978.
Stout finished third at last year's NCAA Championship, the first event of this award season, while helping the Cowboys capture their 12th national title.
On the amateur circuit, Stout was a member of the United States Walker Cup and Arnold Palmer Cup squads as well as the World Amateur Team Championship squad.
Stout won the prestigious Northeast Amateur title and was medalist at the U.S. Amateur Championship before reaching the round of 16 during match play. He was also in the field last summer at the PGA Tour's 3M Open.
The Ben Hogan Award has honored the outstanding amateur collegiate golfer in Fort Worth since 2002. The original Ben Hogan Trophy, which featured different award criteria, was issued in Los Angeles beginning in 1990. As esteemed international selection committee comprised of 40 leaders in collegiate, amateur and professional golf votes during each stage of the process.
