Meylan named USA Softball Player of the Year Top 25 Finalist
April 29, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Ruby Meylan has been named a Top 25 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, it was announced today.
Meylan leads all Power Four pitchers and ranks fifth in the nation in innings pitched (193.2) while ranking fifth in the country in wins (23) and 14th in strikeouts (177). Her 17 complete games rank 11th in the nation and are tied for the most among Power Four pitchers.
The Omaha, Neb., native has eight ranked wins on the year, including three wins over teams inside the Top 10 of the NFCA poll. She limited then-No. 1/1 Oklahoma's NCAA-leading offense, which is on pace to break the NCAA single-season run record, to just two earned runs over a complete game effort with nine strikeouts on April 15. A week later, she became the first pitcher since 2021 to hold Texas to two hits in Austin as she went the distance against then-No. 7/4 Texas in a two-hit, four strikeout effort on April 22.
Meylan has won each of her last 16 decisions, which is the longest active streak in the country. She is 16-0 in her last 17 appearances with a 1.60 ERA and 89 punchouts in 105.0 IP. That win total would rank 35th in the country, and Meylan achieved it in a week and a half.
On the season, the senior right-hander is 23-6 with a 2.20 ERA and 177 strikeouts in 193.2 innings pitched.
Meylan joins Vanessa Shippy (2018), Madi Sue Montgomery (2019), Carrie Eberle (2021), Kelly Maxwell (2022 & 2023), Rachel Becker (2023) and Lexi Kilfoyl (2024) as OSU student-athletes to be selected as Top 25 finalists for USA Softball's Collegiate Player of the Year.
The Top 25 will be narrowed to 10 finalists on May 13, followed by the announcement of the Top 3 on May 18. The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed prior to the Women's College World Series.
