Q&A with Long Snapper Caden Yates
March 26, 2026 | Cowboy Football
Oklahoma State redshirt junior long snapper Caden Yates
On his transition to Stillwater:
"It's going really great, I love it here. The town's great, the team's awesome, the coaches are great. It's a great place to be… As a student, it has been pretty smooth. We have great academic advisors. Stillwater is super easy to get used to as well. I love the small town feel, and this whole town revolves around the school, and I really love that."
On his decision to come to Oklahoma State:
"It's been pretty smooth for me, in all honesty. I can't speak for a lot of guys, but it was pretty quick for me. I was in and out of the portal, and then, it was just a short drive compared to a lot of places. So that was pretty easy for me to do."
On how he's adjusting to the new team:
"It's really nothing new to me. At [University of North Texas], we had a lot of interchange, a lot of new players all the time. So coming to a team with a lot of new guys, it's nothing new and it takes a little bit of getting used to and it takes time to meet everybody."
On dealing with the Oklahoma weather:
"It is pretty windy out here, especially in Tornado Alley. The wind does whip a little bit, but it's not something that we haven't really dealt with."
On the athletics at OSU:
"I've been to a bunch of wrestling matches. I actually went to the Big 12 wrestling tournament, that was super fun. And then I went to a bunch of basketball games as well."
On his goals, both personally and as a team:
"Personally, I think it's to start the season, do well, perform, keep myself at a high standard. As a team, we're here to win championships and we're going to try our best to do that."
On his relationship with punter Nate Ost and how it affects their trust:
"I live with Nate Ost, one of our punters, and that's been super great too. He's a great guy and I love living with him. I think it does. Especially because he holds all of our field goals, so it helps when you know a guy personally and you can trust each other.
On what position he used to play:
"I loved playing linebacker. I love flying around and hitting people. I hope [I get to hit somebody], but we'll see."
On long snappers he watches:
"I watch a lot of Andrew DePaola. He's the long snapper for the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are my team, so I watch a lot of him. Also Luke Rhodes, he's a great snapper too. He's for the Colts."
