March 21, 2026 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
FORT WORTH, Texas. – Oklahoma State men's and women's outdoor track & field opened their season this weekend at the TCU Alumni Invitational, held at the Lowden Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth, Texas.
Senior Nate Collier kicked off his first outdoor season with the Cowboys on Friday with his record-breaking performance in the men's Discus Throw. The Oklahoma native finished third in the event, throwing a distance of 56.70 meters on his second attempt to earn his top-three finish. His distance sets the new program record by nearly half a meter, dethroning Jim Benien's longstanding record of 56.19 meters set in 1971.
Elsewhere on the field Friday, all three Cowgirls in the women's Hammer Throw took spots in the top six to start off their season on a high note. Freshman Rylee Jenkins made her outdoor debut in the orange and black with a victorious finish in the event, throwing a personal-best distance of 63.06 meters. The distance is good for the fourth-best in program history. Fellow Cowgirls Rachel Neaves and Sutton Howard followed suit with their own skillful performances of 59.73 meters and 54.87 meters, respectively, earning them finishes in fourth and sixth place.
On Saturday, two Cowgirls on the track showed off impressive finishes in the women's 100 Meter Hurdles with top-10 finishes. Junior Katie Chapman crushed her previous personal-best record by over a tenth of a second to take third in the competition, finishing with a time of 13.63. Annie Molenhouse also came up big with her time of 14.01, earning her seventh place.
On the men's side, Carter Wilkerson blazed through with a new personal best of his own, finishing in second place with his time of 10.37. The time ties for the seventh-fastest in program history, alongside Ken Zachary's time set in 1984.
Newcomer Steven Schmidt made waves at his first meet as a Cowboy, earning fourth in the men's 110 Meter Hurdles with an impressive time of 14.51. His time is good as the seventh-fastest in program history, and he currently stands as the first Cowboy to break into the top eight fastest program times since 1985.
Schmidt's day was not over yet, however, as he also found success during the men's Javelin Throw. The senior took home fifth on the day with his performance, recording a distance of 58.44 meters on his second throw. His distance in the event propelled him into yet another top-10 program record, as it ranks as the third best distance in program history.
Next on the schedule, the Cowboys and Cowgirls continue the action outdoors at the ORU Invitational next weekend in Tulsa, Okla., on March 27-28.
