Cowgirls shut out BYU, 6-0

STILLWATER – Amanda Hasler, Audrey Schneidmiller and Rosie Davis hit home runs and Ruby Meylan allowed just one hit over five scoreless innings to lead the No. 23/21 Oklahoma State softball team to a 6-0 win over BYU on Thursday night at Cowgirl Stadium.
Oklahoma State improved to 20-9 overall and 3-4 in Big 12 play, while BYU fell to 8-19 and 0-4 in conference.
The Cowgirls opened the scoring in the second inning when Jayden Jones hit an RBI double to right field. Oklahoma State later executed a double steal that allowed Jones to score and extend the lead to 2-0.
In the third, Hasler blasted her eighth home run of the season with a solo shot to right. Including Thursday's performance, she has three home runs and seven RBIs in her last two games.
Schneidmiller led off the fourth inning with her second home run of the season and Davis added her sixth of the year four batters later with a two-run shot to left center.
Meylan (10-6) made her third consecutive start and kept BYU's offense in check before RyLee Crandall entered in the sixth to close out the game.
Hailey Shuler (3-5) started for BYU and pitched 3 2/3 innings, taking the loss.
Game two of the series will be played at 6 p.m. CT, tomorrow at Cowgirl Stadium.
