Offense erupts in Cowgirl Softball’s 15-2 pounding of Cal
February 07, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
PALO ALTO, Calif. – Freshman Jayelle Austin hit a grand slam, and Claire Timm drove in five runs to power the No. 24/20 Oklahoma State softball team to a dominating 15-2, five-inning run-rule victory over California at the Stanford Softball Stadium Saturday.
The 13-run margin of victory was OSU's most lopsided victory over Cal in a series that dates back to 1981. The Cowgirls' 15 runs marked just the fifth time in the last 10 years that the Bears have allowed 15 runs or more in a game.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 3-1 overall. The Bears dipped to 0-2, with both defeats coming at the hands of the Pokes.
In their last three games at the Stanford Invitational – one against San Jose State and two against Cal, the Cowgirls have outscored the opposition, 32-5, and have secured two five-inning run-rule victories.
After spotting the Bears two runs in the first inning Saturday, OSU roared back with 15 unanswered to put the game out of reach.
Austin's grand slam headlined a six-run second inning that also included a two-run homer from Timm. The Cowgirls blew the game wide open with a seven-run third inning that included a two-run double from Karli Godwin, a two-run single from Timm, an RBI double from Amanda Hasler and an RBI triple from Aubrey Jones.
Ruby Meylan (1-1) overwhelmed the Bears in relief to pick up the win. She entered the contest with two Cal runners on base and one out in the first inning and got out of the jam without allowing any runs. Meylan went on to retire the first 11 batters she faced, allow no hits and struck out four in 4.2 innings of work.
Oklahoma State concludes play at the Stanford Invitational with a 5:30 p.m. CT battle with the host Cardinal later today.
