Preston Stout Named Haskins Award Finalist

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Oklahoma State's Preston Stout has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2024-25 Fred Haskins Award it was announced by The Haskins Foundation and its media partners Golfweek and Golf Channel today.
Beginning in 1971, the Fred Haskins Award has been presented annually to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer as voted on by only college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media.
A sophomore from Richardson, Texas, Stout moved to No. 7 in the most recent NCAA Division I individual rankings after tying for eighth place at the NCAA Urbana Regional this week. The finish was his seventh top 10 in nine starts this spring.
Stout finished third at the Gators Invitational before earning his second career victory at the Cabo Collegiate. He finished third in back-to-back starts at the Maridoe Intercollegiate and the Haskins Award Invitational before tying for ninth place at the Mountaineer Invitational.
Last month, Stout repeated as medalist at the Big 12 Championship, becoming the second Cowboy (Morgan Hoffmann) to win multiple Big 12 crowns.
Stout has led the Cowboys to six team titles on the year and a No. 2 ranking. OSU has won four consecutive events after sharing top honors at the NCAA Urbana Regional.
The Cowboys have produced eight Haskins Award winners with Lindy Miller (1978), Bob Tway (1981), Willie Wood (1982), Scott Verplank (1986), Charles Howell (2000), Hunter Mahan (2003), Pablo Martin (2006) and Matthew Wolff (2019) all earning the distinction as the top player in college golf.
