Cowboy Golf One Back At Haskins Award Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team finds itself one shot off the lead after 36 holes on Saturday at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club.
The Cowboys posted a 3-under 285 to stand in a three-way tie for fifth place with Arizona and Illinois and just four shots off the lead through 18 holes. OSU followed with a 7-under round of 285 to get to 10-under 566 and one shot behind Illinois at the par-72, 7,086-yard layout.
All five Cowboys broke par during the second round to move OSU up the leaderboard.
Preston Stout led the charge for the Cowboys, opening with a 6-under 66 to share first place. The sophomore began his day at the fourth hole with the first of his nine birdies. He would birdie the sixth before carding his lone bogey of the first nine at the eighth. He would reel off three birdies in a row at Nos. 9, 10 and 11.
After carding bogeys at the 12th and 15th, he would bounce back with birdies at Nos. 17 and 18 for a 2-under side of 34. Stout would add birdies at the second and third to close out the round with a 32 on his front nine.
During his second round, he racked up four consecutive birdies at Nos. 11-14 and added a fifth at the 18th for a 5-under 31 before eventually signing for a 4-under 68 to stand alone in first place at 10-under 134.
Sophomore Eric Lee opened with a 1-under 71 to stand in a tie for 16th place. He would add another 71 during the afternoon round to move into the top 10, sharing ninth place at 142.
Sophomore Ethan Fang opened play with an even-par 72 to share 22nd place. He would shave a stroke off during his second round with his 71 to move into a tie for 15th place at 143.
Sophomore Gaven Lane posted an opening 76 to share 62nd place before rallying with a 71 of his own to climb into a tie for 35th place at 147.
Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson was tied for 69th place after the morning round after signing for a 77 before bouncing back with a 71 as well to move into a tie for 48th place at 148.
