April 30, 2025 | Cowgirl Tennis
IRVING, Texas – Six members of Oklahoma State's women's tennis team were recognized in the Big 12 yearly awards, as was announced by the conference on Wednesday.
The Cowgirls' nine unique selections were the most in the conference, just ahead of eight for UCF, and their three first team singles selections were tied for the most with the Knights.
Rose Marie Nijkamp became the third player in program history to be named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, joining Mhai Sawangkaew in 2022 and Viktoriya Lushkova in 2014. She was also selected to the All-Big 12 First Team in both singles and doubles along with the All-Big 12 Freshman Team.
Anastasiya Komar joined Nijkamp on both All-Big 12 First Teams in singles and doubles, while Melisa Ercan earned a first team nod in singles and an All-Big 12 Freshman Team selection. Gracie Epps was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team in singles, and Kylie Collins and Marcela Lopez were selected to the All-Big 12 Second Team in doubles together.
Nijkamp finished conference play undefeated, going 10-0 in singles and 11-0 in doubles while adding a win in each at the Big 12 Championships. She is the only player in the conference this season to earn an individual award, appear on the All-Big 12 First Teams in singles and doubles and earn a spot on the All-Big 12 Freshman Team.
For the second consecutive season, Komar was a first team selection in both singles and doubles, going 10-2 at the No. 2 position and 11-0 while partnering with Nijkamp at the No. 1 doubles spot. Ercan earned her place on the singles first team and freshman team by going 4-3 at the top singles position and 7-2 in doubles with Epps.
A 10-1 mark in Big 12 play earned Epps a spot on the second team in singles, as she finished the season on a nine-match win streak, including two victories at the Big 12 Championships. Collins and Lopez went 6-2 in the Big 12 at the No. 2 position for OSU, securing their place on the All-Big 12 Second Team as a doubles pairing.
Oklahoma State is preparing for its 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament as it will begin in the Norman Regional, taking on Tulsa on Friday at 11 a.m. as it looks to advance past the opening round for the 11th time in the last 12 tournaments.
