Cowgirl Softball claims series opener at Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Ruby Meylan struck out seven and allowed only two hits as part of a complete game shutout to lead No. 23 Oklahoma State Softball to a 4-0 win over Kansas at Arrocha Ballpark Friday.
The Cowgirls improved to 28-16 overall and 9-8 in the Big 12 with the win, while the Jayhawks dropped to 20-23 on the season and 5-14 in the conference.
Meylan improved to 18-6 with the win. KU's Katie Brooks fell to 6-8 with the loss.
Oklahoma State opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo home run from Amanda Hasler, her 13th on the year.
The Cowgirls tallied three more runs in the fourth thanks to a run-scoring error by Kansas and a two-run single from Megan Delgadillo to score Megan Bloodworth and Rachael Hathoot.
Offensive standouts for Oklahoma State included Hasler (2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI) and Delgadillo (1-for-3 with two RBIs.)
Hasler's home run marked the 100th RBI of her career.
The Cowgirls return to action at 2 p.m. tomorrow for the second game of the series. The game will be live streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
