Cowboy Golf Second After Day One At Big 12 Championship

Day 1 Results
TULSA, Okla. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action on Tuesday at the Big 12 Championship in second place at Southern Hills Country Club.
The third-ranked Cowboys opened with a 6-over 286 during the morning round at the par-70, 7,556-yard layout. Head coach Alan Bratton's five was the lone squad to break par during the afternoon round with its 1-under 279 to get within four shots of Arizona State's 561 total heading into tomorrow's third round.
ASU's Connor Williams posted rounds of 70 and 66 to stand at 136 and three shots clear of the field in the individual race.
OSU's Preston Stout, the event's medalist last year, carded a pair of 70s to stand at 140 and alone in third place. In both of his rounds, the Cowboy sophomore countered a pair of bogeys with two birdies to finish at even par for the day.
Sophomore Ethan Fang shot up 54 spots in the standings after bouncing back from an opening 77 with a 65 during the afternoon. He stands at 142 and tied for sixth place. After his 7-over opening round, Fang started round two on the back nine and went bogey free with birdies at Nos. 14 and 15 to turn in 33. He would birdie three of the first four holes on the front nine and countered his lone bogey of the round at the fifth with a birdie at the sixth before coming home in 3-under 32.
Sophomore Eric Lee posted rounds of 71 and 73 to stand in a tie for 14th place at 144.
Also among the group at 144 was sophomore Gaven Lane, who signed for scores of 73 and 71.
Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson finished the day tied for 23rd place with a 146 total, which included rounds of 72 and 74.
The Cowboys will begin their third round tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. and will be grouped with Arizona State, TCU and Colorado. Live scoring is available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
