EUGENE, ORE. – Oklahoma State Outdoor Track and Field traveled out west to Hayward Field on Friday, opening the weekend with a successful showing at the Oregon Open.
Fouad Messaoudi turned in an electric 3:36.85 mark in the men's 1,500 Meters, cruising to a first place finish and nearing his school record time that he set at the 2023 Bryan Clay Invitational. Close behind him in second place was fellow Cowboy Alex Stitt, turning in a time of 3:37.87, good for fourth best in OSU history.
Later in the day, Caio Almeida put down an impressive season best performance in the 400 Meter Hurdles, clocking a second-place time of 50.71. Ben Currence and Hunter Vaughn each set new personal bests with times of 51.80 and 52.32, respectively. Currence's mark also puts him ninth in program history.
In the men's 800 Meters, Ty Cook and Laban Kipkemboi placed second and third overall with times of 1:48.20 and 1:49.29. Cook's time moves him up the program leaderboard to seventh.
On the women's side, the Cowgirls dominated the 1,500 Meters, claiming each of the top four spots. Kaylie Politza led the pack with her time of 4:14.23, adding yet another first place finish to her resume. Madi Surber, Mandeep Sangha, and Lauren Ping were close behind her, claiming second, third, and fourth place, respectively. All four Cowgirls set new personal bests with their marks today. Later, Kalen Goodman bolstered her already impressive freshman campaign with a second place finish in the 400 Meter Hurdles, clocking a time of 58.66. This mark is good for fourth best all time among Cowgirls.
Over in the field, Zeddy Chongwo got the day's action started for the Cowgirls, turning in a huge 6.12 meter effort in the Long Jump. This marks a new personal best for Chongwo, a true freshman, and catapults her up to third place all time in program history.
