Cowboy Golf Cruises To Victory At Mountaineer Invitational

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team rolled to its fourth victory of the season with a 24-shot triumph at the Mountaineer Invitational on Tuesday at Pete Dye Golf Club.
Fueled by four Cowboys in the top 10, OSU cruised to its second-ever title at the event. OSU posted a 20-shot victory two years ago at the par-72, 7,308-yard layout. Today's victory also marked the 45th for the program under the direction of head coach Alan Bratton.
Overall, the Cowboys have won two tournaments in a row and have not finished outside the top three in their last eight starts.
OSU posted a closing 292 to finish at even-par 864. Kentucky was second at 888, while Texas Tech finished third at 898.
Eric Lee captured medalist honors for the second time as a collegian and first time as a Cowboy. As a freshman last year at Cal, Lee was co-medalist in his collegiate debut at the Marquette Intercollegiate.
Lee closed with a 71 to finish at 6-under 210 and eight shots clear of the field. After opening with a bogey-free 67, he followed with a 72 during his second round. Lee pulled away from the field with his 1-under tally on Tuesday, which included a 2-under 34 on his inward nine.
For Lee, the victory continued an impressive run of which has seen him earn top-10 finishes in five of his last six starts, including each of the past four events.
The sophomore duo of Ethan Fang and Gaven Lane shared third place at 3-over 219 after closing with scores of 72 and 73, respectively.
For Fang, the top-five showing marked eighth time in 10 starts he has finished inside the top 10 this year.
Lane's finish was his second top five in his last three outings.
Sophomore Preston Stout rounded out the quartet of Cowboys in the top 10, sharing ninth place at 222 after a closing 76. He has now been inside the top 10 in five of his last six starts.
Junior John Wild competed individually and tied for 13th place after posting a 78 for a 224 total.
Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson carded an 80 to finish at 227 and tied for 21st place.
