Cowgirl Softball’s Bloodworth and Meylan sweep Big 12 Conference weekly awards
March 04, 2025 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Softball has picked up both Big 12 Conference weekly awards as Megan Bloodworth earned Player of the Week honors and Ruby Meylan collected Pitcher of the Week honors, the conference announced today.
The Cowgirls are the first team this season to sweep both weekly awards. OSU's sweep marks its first since March 7, 2023, when Lexi Kilfoyl and Micaela Wark were named Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week, respectively.
In OSU's seven games this past week, Bloodworth paced the team with a .556 batting average and held an OPS over 1.500 while she blasted three home runs to go with eight RBIs and eight runs scored. The senior shortstop's solo blast against then-No. 18/16 Nebraska on Feb. 28 lifted the Cowgirls to a 1-0 win, their fifth ranked win of the season.
On the week, Bloodworth led the Big 12 in home runs and total bases (19) and finished in the top five in multiple statistics: hits (10, fourth), runs scored (fifth), RBIs (fifth), slugging percentage (1.056, third). The weekly honor marks the first of her career.
Meylan was dominant in the circle all week as she went 6-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched and allowed only five hits scattered across six appearances to go with 30 strikeouts. The six-foot righty outdueled Nebraska's Jordy Bahl in a battle of All-America pitchers as Meylan struck out nine batters and gave up only one walk and in the complete-game shutout.
Meylan led the conference in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched and was second in opponents' batting average (.068) on the week.
The Cowgirls are back on the road this week with a matchup against North Texas set for 6 p.m. tomorrow in Denton, Texas. Fans can stream the contest on ESPN+ or listen on the Varsity Network app with Ryan Breeden on the call.
