WACO, Texas – Cowboy and Cowgirl Track & Field teams opened their 2025 Outdoor Track & Field seasons on Saturday, competing in the Clyde Hart Classic at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium in Waco, Texas.
The Cowgirl throwers turned in an impressive performance in the Hammer Throw to start off the day, claiming each of the top three spots in the event. Fresh off their All-Big 12 Indoor campaigns, Rachel Neaves and Johnna Orange placed first and second, respectively. Their marks of 57.98 meters and 57.56 meters are good for sixth and seventh best in program history. Sutton Howard joined them in the top three, with her 52.54 meter throw earning a third-place finish.
Zac Robbins and Sam Mason kicked off the day's action for the Cowboys, placing third and fourth in the men's Hammer Throw, respectively. Robbins' mark of 59.89 meters is the third best in school history and a new personal best, over a meter further than his previous personal record.
Later in the day, two of the Cowboys' Indoor All-Big 12 honorees delivered notable performances in their outdoor season debuts, with Big 12 Champion Blair Anderson finishing first in the Long Jump and Kade Benjamin placing second in the High Jump. Benjamin's 2.06 meter leap is good for ninth best in Cowboy history.
On the women's side, Lauren Smith etched her name in the Cowgirl record books, with a 4.00 meter mark in the Pole Vault, good for third best in program history. This effort earned her second place in the event. Sophomore Kileigh Mixon got her season off to a strong start, placing second in the High Jump with a 1.70 meter leap, tenth best in program history.
