Cowgirl Softball shuts out Houston
March 16, 2025 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER — Ten strikeouts from Ruby Meylan led the No. 14 Oklahoma State softball team to a 3-0 victory over Houston at Cowgirl Stadium Sunday.
The Cowgirls improved to 17-6 and 2-2 in conference. The Cougars fell to 16-8 and 2-2 in the Big 12.
The two teams were scheduled for a three-game weekend series, but the Friday and Saturday games were canceled due to wildfires in the area and are unlikely to be rescheduled.
Megan Bloodworth opened the scoring with an RBI triple in the second inning, her first of the season.
Bloodworth extended the advantage with a lead-off home run in the fifth, her fifth of the season. The final run for OSU came in the sixth, as Lexi McDonald recorded a pinch-hit RBI single that scored Macy Graf.
In recording a double-digit strikeout total for the second time this season and allowing only one hit over seven innings, Meylan improved to 10-1 on the year. Houston's Paris Lehman picked up the loss, falling to 1-2.
The offensive leaders for Oklahoma State included Bloodworth (2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs) and McDonald (1-for-1 with an RBI.)
Megan Delgadillo recorded her 300th-career hit in the third with a single.
With the win, OSU is now 12-2 when scoring first and extends its home winning streak to 16, dating back to last season.
The Cowgirls return to action Friday at 6 p.m. to start a three-game home series against Baylor. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
