Cowboys place fifth overall at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships; Earn highest team finish since 1965

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Oklahoma State Men's Indoor Track & Field concluded its 2025 indoor season Saturday on the second and final day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, placing fifth overall as a team with 26 points.
The Cowboys earned their first top-5 finish at the NCAA meet for the first time in 60 years, when the 1965 team finished second overall at the first-inaugural NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. OSU also earned its third-consecutive top-10 finish at the national meet for the first time in program history after placing sixth in 2023 and seventh in 2024.
"I'm incredibly proud of the men this weekend," Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Smith said. "They were gritty, tough and super competitive. Almost every single guy we brought earned First Team All-America honors and each guy impacted our score. It was our highest point total in program history and our best team finish since 1965. This is the first time in my career that our track team has outplaced our cross country team. Hopefully we can move up one more spot and win a trophy at the outdoor championships in June."
After qualifying for the finals at yesterday's preliminary round, Fouad Messaoudi earned First Team All-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the Mile. En route to his fourth NCAA All-American selection in just three championship meet appearances as a Cowboy, Messaoudi turned in an impressive time of 3:54.72. This performance provided the Cowboys with their first five points of the day and ended Messaoudi's senior indoor season in style.
Less than 24 hours after winning the National Championship in the 5,000 Meters, Brian Musau catapulted the Cowboys into fourth place overall with just one event remaining as he contributed four more team points thanks to another top-5 finish in the 3,000 Meters. Musau's time of 7:53.40 earned him fifth place in the event, as well as First Team All-America honors for the second time in two days. This marks the fourth time in just two seasons Musau has been an NCAA Indoor All-America honoree.
However, once the 4x400 Meter Relay concluded, the Cowboys sat fifth overall, just four points shy of earning the program's first-ever team trophy in track & field. This concludes a historic indoor campaign for the Cowboys in which school records were broken in eight different events, four conference champions were crowned and an NCAA Champion in Musau.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will kick off the outdoor track and field season next weekend as they travel to Waco, Texas, on Saturday to compete in the Baylor Invitational.
