Thompson named honorable mention All-Big 12
March 10, 2025 | Cowboy Basketball
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Oklahoma State guard Bryce Thompson added another chapter to one of the Big 12's best comeback stories today, earning honorable mention all-conference honors from the league office.
Â
Ballots were cast by each of the league's 16 head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Â
A right shoulder injury sidelined Thompson for the final six weeks of the 2023-24 campaign as well as the majority of the off-season, but the 6-foot-6 guard returned to average a career-best 12.4 points in his final season while playing some of his best all-around basketball.
Â
Thompson was the Cowboys' leading scorer in Big 12 play at 13.3 points. He reached double-figures in 15 of the 20 games and topped 20 points on four occasions, highlighted by a career-high 25 in the Feb. 19 win over UCF.
Â
It's the first postseason honor for Thompson in a five-year career marked by steady productivity. The Tulsa native spent his freshman year at Kansas before returning to his home state to play for the Cowboys and his now on track to become just the ninth player in OSU history to average double-figure points in four different seasons.
Â
Thompson scored his 1,400th collegiate point in the regular season finale against Cincinnati (1,415 now), while continuing to climb OSU's all-time lists for career points (22nd, 1,324), three-point field goals (t-14th, 153) and games started (t-8th, 109).
Â
Thompson will look to add to those totals this week at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship in Kansas City. The Cowboys take on Cincinnati in Tuesday's opening round (11:30 a.m. CT, ESPN+).
