Cowgirls sit third after first day of Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships
February 28, 2025 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
LUBBOCK, Texas – Oklahoma State Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field kicked off the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Lubbock, Texas, on Friday, highlighted by multiple conference titles and a plethora of All-Big 12 honorees.
The historically dominant Cowboy Distance Medley Relay team added to their legendary resume with a fifth straight conference title in the event. Just one week after the Cowboy DMR team ran the second-fastest time in collegiate history, the squad of Alex Stitt, Jordon Smith, Laban Kipkemboi, and Fouad Messaoudi combined for a time of 9:30.88 en route to a dominant victory.
This win marks Stitt's third Big 12 Indoor Championship win, Kipkemboi and Messaoudi's second conference title, and Smith's first. The quartet's performance earned the Cowboys ten points, catapulting them up to third place in the team rankings at the conclusion of day one.
Oklahoma State's lone individual Big 12 Championship win of the day came in the men's Long Jump, with Blair Anderson winning the event and earning his first ever conference title. Anderson's 7.62 meter leap is the second best mark in school history and earned him All-Big 12 honors in the long jump for the second season in a row.
For the fourth time this year, Emma Robbins broke the Cowgirl program record in the Weight Throw with her monumental toss of 21.65 meters, upending her own school record set earlier this season at the Tyson Invitational. Robbins' mark earned her second place in the event as well as All-Big 12 honors, the third time in her career that she has received this award (2022-23, 2025).
All three Cowgirls that participated in the Weight Throw earned All-Big 12 honors, with Johnna Orange and Rachel Neaves joining Robbins in the top eight at fourth and seventh place, respectively. Orange's 20.42 meter toss is the fourth-best mark in school history and Neaves' 19.16 meter effort is sixth best. The trio's dominant performance earned the Cowgirls a whopping 15 points, helping the team to a third place finish overall after day one.
Annie Molenhouse gave the Cowgirls their first points of the day in the Pentathlon, with her fifth place finish earning All-Big 12 honors and four points for the team. Her composite score of 3,989 Points is fifth best in school history.
Back on the men's side, Denis Kipngetich became the sixth and final individual Oklahoma State athlete to earn All-Big 12 honors, finishing second in the men's 5000 Meters with an impressive time of 13:29.99. This marks Kipngetich's second year in a row earning All-Big 12 honors in the 5000 Meters, and his effort earned the Cowboys eight points, their first of the weekend.
The Cowgirl DMR squad earned three points for the team, as Madi Surber, Madisyn Jackson, Isis Grant, and Mandeep Sangha turned in a time of 11:23.41, good for a sixth-place finish.
The men's team finished Friday's festivities tied for third place with 28 team points. The women's team also sits in third with 22 points. The Cowboys and Cowgirls will return to the track tomorrow for the second and final day of the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships, with action beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT.
