Cowboys Maintain Lead Heading Into Final Round In Hawaii

KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 271 during its second round at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate on Friday to maintain its spot atop the leaderboard at Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club.
A day after firing a program record 262, the ninth-ranked Cowboys posted a 17-under tally during their second round to stand at 43-under 533 and two strokes clear of the field. North Carolina came in with a 535 total and Oregon has a 36-hole total of 540 at the par-72, 6,913-yard layout.
UNC's Hampton Roberts used a 61 on Friday to climb into first place in the individual race at 128.
OSU sophomore Ethan Fang followed his opening 64 with a 67 to stand alone in third place at 131. Fang birdied five of his first six holes and added another to stand at 6-under through eight before carding his lone blemish of the day, a double bogey at the fourth.
Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson moved into the top 10 after following his opening 67 with a 68 to stand at 135 and tied for ninth place.
The Cowboys' biggest mover was Gaven Lane who rose from a tie for 64th place into a tie for 16th after firing a 65. The sophomore eagled the two par fives on the back nine and added three birdies to shoot 7-under 29. His front nine included two birdies and two bogeys for an even-par 36.
Sophomore Preston Stout carded a 76 to dip into a tie for 33rd place at 138.
Sophomore Eric Lee posted a 71 to finish at 140 and tied for 49th place.
Competing individually, Johnnie Clark opened with a 69 before signing for a 72 on Friday to share 53rd place at 141.
The final round will begin at 7:30 (HST) on Saturday morning as the Cowboys will look to win the event for the 10th time.
