KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will open its spring season this week at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate, which be contested at the Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club.
The ninth-ranked Cowboys will be one of 20 teams in action at the resort's par-72, 6,913-yard North Course. The 54-hole event will get underway on Thursday with a 7:30 a.m. (HST) shotgun start. The second round will begin at 7:30 on Friday morning with the final round set to get underway at the same time on Saturday.
The Cowboys will be grouped with Oregon, Waseda University and Washington to open play.
In its last outing of the fall, head coach Alan Bratton's squad wrapped up its first win of the season, winning the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in October in Oklahoma City. The title was OSU's 42nd under the direction of Bratton.
This week's starting lineup will consist of four sophomores in Ethan Fang, Preston Stout, Eric Lee and Gaven Lane and one freshman, Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson. Sophomore Johnnie Clark will compete individually.
In 2022, the Cowboys rallied to win the event after firing a 24-under 264 during their final round to finish at 50-under 814. Individually, Eugenio Chacarra closed with a course-record 62 to claim medalist honors as well. With his win, he joined Matthew Wolff, Jordan Niebrugge, Jonathan Moore, Tyler Leon, Alan Bratton and Craig Hainline as OSU medalists at the event. The Cowboys have captured the tournament title nine times since its inception. OSU won the event in 1991, 1995, 1996, 2005, 2011, 2014, 2018, 2019 and 2022.
