Cowboy Golf Second Through 36 Holes At Gators Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play at the Gators Invitational on Saturday with a 36-hole total of 547 to stand alone in second place at Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The seventh-ranked Cowboys opened with a 3-under 277 before firing the low round of the day, a 10-under 270, during the afternoon to climb into second place at the par-70, 6,701-yard layout. Tournament host Florida posted a 545 to lead the event.
Three players: Charlotte's Justin Matthews, Georgia Southern's Brantley Baker and Florida's Ian Gilligan finished in a three-way tie for the individual lead at 7-under 133.
Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson led OSU's starting five with a 67 and 69 to stand at 4-under 136 and tied for fifth place. His opening round included a bogey-free second nine which featured two birdies and an eagle for a 4-under 31. He posted five birdies during his second round on his way to a 1-under score.
Sophomore Ethan Fang rallied after an opening 73 with a 65 which included seven birdies against two bogeys. He finished the day tied for 14th place at 138.
Also among the group at 138 were sophomores Preston Stout, who signed for scores of 70 and 68, and Eric Lee, who posted rounds of 70 and 68 as well.
Sophomore Gaven Lane rounded out the starting lineup with scores of 70 and 74 to get in with a 144 total and tied for 44th place.
Sophomore Johnnie Clark is competing individually and wrapped up the day tied for 28th place at 141 after posting rounds of 71 and 70.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 7:20 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Florida and South Florida. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
