Cowboy Golf Finishes Second At Gators Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 277 during the final round of action on Sunday at the Gators Invitational to finish in second place at Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The seventh-ranked Cowboys, who had won their previous two starts, wrapped up the event with a 54-hole total of 16-under 824 at the par-70, 6,701-yard layout. Tournament host Florida posted an 823 total to finish atop the leaderboard in what turned into a two-team race with the Gators and Cowboys posting the only scores under par during the final round. Florida Gulf Coast and Georgia Southern were third at 836.
Florida's Ian Gilligan secured medalist honors on the second playoff hole against Justin Matthews of Charlotte after the duo finished at 202.
OSU's Preston Stout logged his first top five of the year, grabbing third place at 204 after finishing with a 4-under 66. The sophomore went out in 2-under 33 after carding birdies at the third and eighth. He would move to 4-under for the day with birdies at the 10th and 12th. After carding his fifth birdie of the day at the 17th, he would tally his lone bogey of the day at the 18th.
Stout was joined in the top five by sophomore Eric Lee, who logged his best finish as a Cowboy. Lee finished alone in fifth place at 4-under 206 after closing with a 68. Lee posted an even-par 36 on his outward nine before coming home in 32 with a second nine that included six birdies, one par, one bogey and a double bogey.
Sophomore Ethan Fang continued his run of top-10 finishes with his fifth in a row. Fang tied for 10th place at 2-under 208 after closing with a 70.
Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson tied for 11th place at 209 after posting a 73 during his third round.
Sophomore Gaven Lane rounded out the starting five with a 73 to tie for 38th place at 217.
Sophomore Johnnie Clark competed individually and tied for 71st place with a 225 total after signing for an 84 on Sunday.
OSU will be back in action on March 2 when they travel to Mexico to take part in the Cabo Collegiate in Cabo San Lucas.
