Cowgirl Softball claims comeback win over No. 5 Texas A&M
February 15, 2025 | Cowgirl Softball
CLEARWATER, Fla. – A walk-off home run from Karli Godwin off Texas A&M All-America pitcher Emiley Kennedy completed the No. 9 Oklahoma State softball team's 6-5 come-from-behind win over the No. 5 Aggies Saturday at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.
The Cowgirls (4-3 overall) trailed by four runs and were down to their final out before Rosie Davis doubled home Megan Delgadillo and Tia Warsop to bring the score to 5-4 in Texas A&M's favor. Godwin then took the first pitch of the ensuing at-bat and blasted it well over the left field fence to secure the win.
The win marks Kenny Gajewski's 25th win over a team ranked in the top 10 of the NFCA poll while at Oklahoma State. It was the first loss of the season for the Aggies (8-1 overall).
After scoring three runs in the second inning, Texas A&M led for the duration of the game until Godwin's winner.
Trailing by three in the fourth inning, Micaela Wark got the Cowgirls on the board with a sacrifice fly to score Davis. Two batters later, Rachael Hathoot brought Godwin home with a single to right to bring the score to 3-2.
The Aggies regained control with a run in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth inning before the Cowgirls stormed to victory in the seventh.
Katie Kutz picked up the win in relief, allowing only one run in three innings of work to improve to 3-1 on the year. Kennedy took the loss for Texas A&M, dropping her to 4-1 on the season.
Offensive standouts for the Cowgirls included Godwin (2-for-4 with the game-winning home run, two RBIs and two doubles), Davis (2-for-3 with two RBIs and two doubles) and Hathoot (1-for-2 with an RBI.)
The Cowgirls face Auburn at 3 p.m. today. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
