STILLWATER – A year of significance for Oklahoma State Athletics, 2025 brought sustained excellence, but also profound change.
NCAA team championships from men's golf and men's cross country further strengthened their place among the powerhouse programs within those sports. Wrestling, equestrian and women's tennis (regular season) joined the men's golf and men's cross country squads as Big 12 team champions.
On an individual level, Ethan Fang and Preston Stout exploded as two of golf's best young talents with significant wins in the collegiate game and on the world amateur scene. Brian Musau swept the NCAA 5,000 meter indoor and outdoor titles and Dean Hamiti won his first career NCAA title, but it's quite possible that the moment of the year came thanks to Wyatt Hendrickson's thunderous win over Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time Hodge Trophy winner Gable Steveson in an NCAA heavyweight title bout that rocked the sport of wrestling.
Speaking of rock, Cross Canadian Ragweed and Turnpike Troubadours headlined a sold-out four-day concert event at Boone Pickens Stadium that served as one of the seminal moments in the Red Dirt Country Music genre.
OSU said goodbye to a legend in Mike Gundy, but the OSU faithful gathered in December to roll out the Orange Carpet for Eric Morris as he took the reins of Cowboy Football.
It was a big year for Oklahoma State in the professional ranks, with Cade Cunningham adding the title of NBA All-Star to his career résumé, Julian Cash winning a doubles title at Wimbledon, Maja Stark winning the U.S. Women's Open, Chase Jackson winning her ninth U.S. title in the shot put, Justin Wrobleski playing an important role in helping the Los Angeles Dodgers win the World Series and Viktor Hovland strengthening his reputation as one of the world's best golfers.
