Cobbs and Eguae Added to OSU Football Coaching Staff

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football coach Eric Morris named two more additions to his coaching staff Monday, hiring Patrick Cobbs as run game coordinator and running backs coach and Ike Eguae as assistant defensive line coach.
Cobbs has been on staff at North Texas since 2019 and worked under Morris from 2023-25, while Eguae was on staff under Morris at UNT in 2025. Eguae also worked under OSU defensive coordinator Skyler Cassity in 2025 at UNT and in 2024 at Sam Houston.
A 2005 UNT graduate, Cobbs has spent all of his college coaching career at his alma mater, getting his start prior to that as Denton Ryan High School's running backs coach for five seasons. In his coaching career with the Mean Green, Cobbs has earned a reputation as a respected mentor with impactful results.
He was named the FootballScoop Running Backs Coach of the Year this season after coaching UNT running back Caleb Hawkins to the national lead in scoring, total touchdowns and rushing touchdowns, while also ranking No. 6 in all-purpose yards per game, No. 13 in rushing yards per game and No. 17 in yards per carry.
A native of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Cobbs was a four-year letterwinner at North Texas from 2001-05 and graduated as the program's all-time leading rusher with 4,050 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns. He led the nation in rushing in 2003 and went on to a five-year career with the Miami Dolphins, playing 54 games.
Eguae is a 2007 graduate of Pittsburg State and has been a college defensive line coach since 2009, with stops at Coffeyville Community College, Pittsburg State, Fort Hays State, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston and North Texas.
In his first year at UNT in 2025, Eguae was part of a staff that helped improve the Mean Green by nearly 10 points per game in scoring defense, by 90 yards per game in total defense and by more than 100 yards per game in passing defense.
Entering bowl season, the UNT defense ranked among the top 25 in the FBS in fumbles recovered (No. 3), turnovers gained (No. 6), passing yards allowed (No. 10), passes intercepted (No. 20) and passing efficiency defense (No. 21).
A native of Arlington, Texas, Eguae earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Pittsburg State in May 2007 and completed his master's degree in 2014.
