Cowgirl Equestrian Tops Baylor

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State's fifth-ranked equestrian team came away victorious against Baylor's ninth-ranked program Friday afternoon in Stillwater by a score of 13-6.
The win moved the Cowgirls to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in Big 12 competition, while the Bears dropped to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The victory extended OSU's dominance in the series history to 41-13 all-time, marking the 17th straight win and preserving a flawless 22-0 home record against Baylor.
Blake Rowan in Fences, Emma Filiatreau in Reining and June Roberson in Horsemanship garnered MOP honors on the day, making it the first time this season that multiple Pokes came away with the distinction. It was Filiatreau's sixth MOP, Roberson's fifth and Rowan's first.
The meet began with Fences and Horsemanship.
In Fences, the Cowgirl unit continued their performance last meet vs. SMU, coming away with a 4-1 advantage for the second consecutive meet. The Fences captain, Ellie DuPuis, got the scoring started on the day with a 78.5-69 advantage to earn the second win of her career. Freshman Lauren Gee has continued to impress early on, taking another point on the day with an 84.5-75.5 win. Emma Hechtman earned a point with a career-high mark of 88 on top of Junior to move the sophomore to 2-1 on the season. Rowan had the highest score of the day, getting a remarkable 90.5 on Kent to earn the MOP for the event.
The OSU Horsemanship squad led Baylor's 3-2 on the day, with Roberson, Jalyn McElmurray and Alana Stanton earning points. Roberson's win was the 30th of her career, putting the senior in eighth place in program history for the event and just two wins behind her sister, Jojo. Roberson is coming off a month of October where she was named the Big 12 Rider of the Month in Horsemanship.
Both McElmurray and Stanton collected their second wins on the season after they each got a win last meet against SMU.
At the break, the Cowgirls led the Bears 7-3 with Flat and Reining on deck.
In Flat, the Pokes won 3-1 as Bella Holway tied Baylor's Caroline Robelen with an 84.5 on Clever. The points from the Cowgirls came from Mackenzie Carreras, Sophia Tabasso and Lourdes Low. For Low, it was the junior's first time competing and she scored an 86.5 on Gunny. Tabasso also scored an 86.5, which is a season-high for the freshman.
In a tightly contested Reining battle, the Cowgirls edged Baylor, 3-2. Filiatreau set the tone early with a season-high 72.75 to stay unbeaten at 3-0. Katie Ramsey followed with her second win of the season, while returning All-Big 12 standout Tristan Bagby notched her first victory of the year.
Up next for the Cowgirls is a west-coast trip where they will compete against Fresno State on November 21 and UC Davis November 22.
