Cowgirl Catalyst: Whiting Dominates Final 20 Minutes Against Lions

STILLWATER – Amari Whiting, in her second game as a Cowgirl, provides strong second half against East Texas A&M to move the Cowgirls to 2-0.
Whiting, the BYU transfer, netted a near-double-double, dropping 13 points and cleaning up the glass with nine boards in the 38-point victory over the Lions. Eleven of those 13 points came in the second half, tied for a team-high for the final 20 minutes.
"I think confidence," Whiting said. "Jacie's really been pushing me this offseason. I'm just getting better, being more confident in myself and then all the girls just hype me up all the time. Just playing fast and aggressive like we like to play and finding my shots."
Whiting hasn't lost a step in the transfer process and credits it to Stillwater and the Cowgirls.
"I love it," Whiting said. "I'm playing with all my sisters, all my best friends and one of the coaching staff's. I love it."
In addition to her work on the glass, Whiting spread the wealth, dishing out a game-high tying four assists. The junior's work on the line also shined, going a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. With her performance, she hit a +/- of 35.
Whiting and the Cowgirls will return in less than 24 hours for a matchup against in-state opponent Langston.
"We love you guys," Whiting said. "Come help us get a kill. Let's go!"
