Gregory a Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award Semifinalist

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State edge rusher Wendell Gregory is one of 14 semifinalists for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, announced Wednesday by the Maxwell Football Club.
He is the only defensive player from the Big 12 to make the list of semifinalists, while he and BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier are the only Big 12 players on the list.
A redshirt freshman who transferred from South Carolina this year, Gregory has lit up the stat sheet and leads all FBS freshmen with 10.5 tackles for loss this season.
He also leads the team in tackles for loss, as well as sacks with 3.0 and quarterback hurries with four. He's added 24 total tackles, a pass breakup and a forced fumble.
The Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award has been presented to the College Freshman Player of the Year since 2018 and is named in honor of Shaun Alexander, a former standout at the University of Alabama and the 2005 NFL MVP with the Seattle Seahawks.
The award will be presented at the Maxwell Football Club Awards gala, along with several of the other top awards in college and professional football.
