Game Flow

For the third straight game, Oklahoma State held a lead at the end of the first quarter. This time, it was 7-0, thanks to a five-yard touchdown pass from Zane Flores to Gavin Freeman to cap the opening drive of the game.
Following a six-yard touchdown run from Zane Flores with 50 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Oklahoma State took a 14-0 lead into the locker room at halftime for its first lead at intermission since the season-opener against UT Martin. It marked the first time the Cowboys held a Big 12 opponent scoreless in the first half since they did so against Baylor in week five of the 2021 season.
The Oklahoma State defense forced two turnovers and three punts in UCF's five first-half possessions. The Cowboys held the Knights to a one-for-four showing on third down in the first half.
UCF got on the board with an 83-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second half to turn the momentum. The Knights limited the Cowboys to only five yards of total offense in the third quarter, but OSU's advantage on the scoreboard remained 14-7 entering the final stanza.
UCF tied the game at 14 with 9:12 remaining in the fourth quarter, then took its first lead with 57 seconds remaining.

Entering Saturday's contest, Oklahoma State had won 95 of its previous 97 games when holding its opponent to fewer than 20 points, dating back to Sept. 13, 2003.

Oklahoma State found success playing a possession-based style in the first half. OSU had the ball for 19:36, in comparison to UCF's 10:24. The Pokes' two first-half touchdown drives spanned 13 plays and 12 plays, respectively. In the first half, Cowboys converted four of eight third-down attempts and ran 40 plays to UCF's 23.
Possession of the ball flipped in the second half, with UCF keeping possession for 20:56, in comparison to Oklahoma State's 8:56. The Knights outgained the Cowboys, 265-27 after halftime and allowed only two OSU first downs.
Entering the game, Oklahoma State had only four interceptions in its previous 10 games this season, but cornerbacks Cam Smith and LaDainian Fields both had interceptions in the first half Saturday. For Smith, it was his first of the season and the third of his career. For Fields, it was the second of his season and of his career.
Parker Robertson set a career high with three tackles for loss. He also had a team-best eight tackles, forced a fumble and broke up a pass.
UCF entered the game averaging 172.9 rushing yards per game. The Oklahoma State defense limited the Knights to 125.
Saturday's game marked just the second meeting between Oklahoma State and UCF, with UCF winning the first game in Orlando in 2023.
